Male Victim Case Worker

Job Type: Full time, Fixed term to 31st August 2024 (possibility of extension subject to funding)

About the role:

The Specialist Male Victim Caseworker will be responsible for providing a specialist service to Male victims of domestic violence across Leicestershire & Rutland, recognising and responding to the additional barriers they may face in engaging with the service through our standard offer.

About the role:

  • Monitor and keep clients informed of case progress

Main purposes of the post:

  2. Ensure proactive attempts to contact client, undertake risk and needs assessments and efforts to engage clients with support are undertaken, including via telephone, text, email, webchat and face to face as appropriate. This will include liaison with referring agency to assist with engagement where appropriate. 
  3. Obtain updates from second tier services / partner agencies regarding client’s engagement with support

  2. Undertake risk and needs assessments and engage clients with support are undertaken, including via telephone, text, webchat, email and face to face as appropriate.  This will include liaison with referring agency to assist with engagement where appropriate. 
  3. Act as a point of contact and provide ongoing support for clients waiting to be allocated to a second tier service / partner agency 
  4. Providing enhanced support to victims referred to or accessing support via the Helpline & Engagement team and identified as having additional support needs which increases vulnerability or identified as having immediate support needs; this will include BME clients, elderly victims, victims with learning disabilities, victims with complex mental health support needs or clients in mental health crisis and clients with any other disability that increases vulnerability, clients identified as high risk of harm on the DASH RIC, cases being heard at the Specialist Domestic Violence Court (SDVC), 
  5. Provide support to clients ensuring their immediate needs are met by undertaking an initial individual safety and support plan which is reviewed and updated regularly. 
  6. Working directly with all key agency partners to promote the safety of victims identified as high risk of harm including prompt referrals to the daily MARAC 
  7. Liaising with statutory and non-statutory services to ensure that the needs of vulnerable clients are met by the most appropriate agency 
  8. Liaising with statutory and non-statutory services to ensure the physical safety, emotional welfare and mental health of the client is supported appropriately 
  9. Supporting clients to access immediate support options including securing refuge accommodation locally and nationally, housing advocacy, health, legal advice, welfare support etc.

Specialist Caseworker (MARAC & SDVC Lead) – Helpline & Engagement Service – Full Time

 

This is a new role for our Domestic and Sexual violence/abuse Helpline Service following the award of a new contract – Helpline & Engagement Service (H&ES)

Main purposes of role:

  1. To refer all cases identified as high risk of harm by the Helpline & Engagement team to the Daily MARAC via MODUS 
  2. To attend and represent the views of the victim, share up-to-date information, and act as a link between the victim and the MARAC agencies. 
  3. Liaise between the victim and partner agencies to ensure that actions identified by MARAC, for completion by the Helpline & Engagement Service, are completed in a timely manner 
  4. Undertake pro-active contact attempts for cases referred to the Daily MARAC by partner agencies, to encourage engagement by victims with specialist domestic abuse support 
  5. Complete an initial safety plan with victims, sharing information to increase the safety, health and well-being and complete immediate actions that will enhance the safeguarding of each individual such as support to access civil remedies, target hardening referrals, referrals to Social Care Services etc. 
  6. Ensure that appropriate and timely referrals are made to appropriate second tier services for ongoing specialist support and advocacy.  
  7. Ensure the effective information sharing at MARAC including providing updates for reviews of cases as appropriate.  
  8. Undertake proactive attempts to engage victims attending the Specialist Domestic Violence Court (SDVC) with specialist support. 
  9. Work as part of the wider Helpline & Engagement team, provide support to cover a helpline for members of the public and professionals which operates Monday to Sunday 8am – 8pm.

Project Co-ordinator – Helpline & Engagement Service

£17,986 per annum – Part-time 30hrs, Permanent

This is a new role for our Domestic and Sexual violence/abuse Helpline Service following the award of a new contract – Helpline & Engagement Service (H&ES) commencing on 1st April 2022.

The Project Coordinator (PC) will act as the dedicated single point of contact with second tier services and maintain an up-to-date overview of the capacity of each service. They will coordinate referrals and updates across the Service System and maintain updated records of refuge availability (locally, regionally, and nationally). Additionally, they will:

  • Develop/maintain the website, including features such as the WebChat tool
  • Manage social media campaigns, according to the community engagement plan for which they have ownership – targeting under-represented or under-engaging audiences
  • Plan and deliver events and campaigns throughout contract life
  • Raise awareness of ‘hidden crimes’ and taboos around abuse
  • Develop and maintain systems for information storage and retrieval, and the administrative needs of management
